This project has officially ended. The following organizations participated in a competition to raise as much money as possible to host philanthropic programs on campus and in our Columbus community. Thank you to everyone who gave to support our students! We cannot wait to share the impact that these projects will have on our Ohio State community.

1st Place - Panhellenic Association

Children’s literature is an accessible and powerful tool that can teach inclusivity and empower marginalized voices. The effective depiction of marginalized groups in children’s literature holds immense power to promote positive attitudes and encourage productive dialogues in schools. Ohio State’s Panhellenic Association is committed to providing students in Columbus City Public Schools with literature that portrays marginalized groups in ways that enable the reader to develop understanding and acceptance of their peers.

2nd Place - African Youth League

Ensuring the health and safety of our Ohio State community is more important than ever, and the African Youth League at Ohio State recognizes the importance of community, exercise and creativity as major contributors to wellness. The organization will create a day-long experience for all students that combines dimensions of social, physical and emotional wellness. We are learning every day that with proper planning and safety procedures, we can continue to stay safe and healthy, Together As Buckeyes.

3rd Place - Buckeyes for Harm Reduction

The opioid crisis has been devastating to Ohio and Franklin County, and it is critical that community members and aspiring healthcare professionals are aware of the crisis before they start their careers. Buckeyes for Harm Reduction aims to confront the opioid epidemic by providing resources that are known to prevent overdose deaths and by expanding awareness about the effects of the epidemic in our community through “Harm Reduction Week.” The organization will use funds raised to distribute harm reduction supplies such as naloxone and fentanyl test strips in our campus community.

4th Place - Engineers without Borders at The Ohio State University

Plastic bags are one of the most difficult plastics to recycle, and most recycling facilities will not accept them. Engineers without Borders at Ohio State is partnering with Buckeye Precious Plastics to keep plastic bags out of landfills by upcycling them into reusable bulk bags. Together we can reduce plastic waste in our community.
