This message is being sent to our National Coming Out Day Ad donors from 2020. We're getting closer to our 2021 goal! If you haven't donated yet this year, please consider a donation by our deadline of Wednesday, September 22. Here's the link: https://buckeyefunder.osu.edu/ncodad2021
For over 30 years, members and friends of Ohio State’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community have published an ad in The Lantern for National Coming Out Day (NCOD). Scarlet and Gay began coordinating the NCOD ad fundraiser when we became an alumni society, and we’re celebrating our 20th anniversary this year! The deadline to donate and have your name appear in the NCOD ad is Wednesday, September 22. It will run in the Lantern on October 7. Click here to learn more about the history of the NCOD ad and how it has become a symbol of Ohio State as an inclusive and welcoming home for the LGBTQ community.
New this year, Scarlet and Gay is participating in the Scholarship Challenge, a grassroots fundraising effort led by Ohio State’s first lady, Veronica Meinhard, that features a 1:1 donation match. Scholarship funds we raise through the NCOD ad will be matched by “champion” donors. We are increasing our annual fundraising goal to $25,000 as part of the Scholarship Challenge, which means we can raise $50,000 for scholarships!
We also ask that you encourage other members of our community to contribute through personal contacts or by sharing this information on social media. If you have any questions about the NCOD ad, please contact Brian Orefice.
Lastly, we always encourage alumni and current students who are part of the LGBTQ community (including allies) to self-identify through the alumni association to receive communication regarding Scarlet and Gay events and leadership opportunities: go.osu.edu/lgbt.
Sincerely,
Brian M. Orefice, PhD
