Thank you!

November 01, 2016

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who gave in support of establishing the Montrella Family Legacy Fund! One of the most special things about Ohio State is the people who make up this great University. We want to say thank you for being one of the people who believe in Ohio State and who give generously to ensure that student-athletes can reach their goals in the classroom and in the pool.

As our giving page is no longer active, we want you to know that you can still give. If you would like to provide any additional support to our project, please do so here.

Again, thank you from the Ohio State Women's Swimming team for the generosity you have shown. We would love to see each and every one of you at one of our competitions this season.

GO BUCKS!

Ohio State Tops Kenyon!

October 31, 2016

Thank you to everyone who has generously contributed to the Montrella Family Legacy Fund. We are in the final hours of our campaign and wanted to share some exciting news about the women's swim team.

The Ohio State women's swimming and diving team had its first home meet of the season on Friday, defeating Kenyon College 173-115. Buckeyes accounted for top times in 11 events tonight and won both the one and three-meter dives.

The foursome of Marianne Kahmann, Molly Washko, Liz Li and Chantel Wynn got the dual meet started with a time of 1:43.67 to win the 200 medley relay. The first place finish marks the first of Kahmann’s career, in her first collegiate event to boot. Meg Bailey and Molly Kowal followed that up with a duel in the 1000 freestyle in which Bailey came out on top; her time of 10:03.45 narrowly edged out Kowal’s mark of 10:03.61.

Buckeye Amanda McNulty won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.25 and Wynn returned to the top spot with a victory in the 50 freestyle (23.71). Kathleen Cook was the fastest Ohio State swimmer in that event (52.14). A pair of Scarlet and Gray seniors came out on top in next two events: Kaitlyn Ferrara won the 200 backstroke (2:03.06) and Lindsey Clary outswam seven others in the 200 breaststroke, her time of 2:18.17 topping them all.

Ferrara and Clary were the first of six straight first place finishes for Ohio State that closed out the meet: Bailey in the 500 freestyle (4:58.44, the only swimmer to go sub-5:00); Li in the 100 butterfly (54.80, almost four seconds faster than the next-best time); Maria Coy in the 200 IM (2:08.02); and foursome of Coy, Clary, Bailey, and Li in the 400 freestyle relay (3:29.77) to close out the evening’s events.

If you have not done so please consider making a gift to help us reach our goal! If it is not feasible to give we ask that you please share so that others are aware of our campaign. Most of all THANK YOU for supporting The Ohio State Women's Swim team. We hope to see you out supporting the Scarlet & Gray this season!

2016-2017 Home Schedule Kicks of Today!

October 28, 2016

Thank you for the generous support we have received in establishing the Montrella Family Legacy Fund! Because of your support we are just shy of our goal.

Today, both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will be competing in their first dual meet of the season as they host Kenyon College at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion at 6:00 pm. In particular the Women's Swimming Team has an exciting season ahead with Lindsey Clary and Liz Li leading the charge along with Haley Allen, Taylor Vargo, and Macie McNichols. All five earned NCAA Championships berths last season. Last season, Clary was an All-American in three different events (400 IM, 500 and 1650 freestyle) and a Big Ten Champion in the 400 IM and 1650 free. Li won two individual titles as well (50 free and 100 butterfly). As a whole, the Women's Swim Team had the most B1G Championships in a single season since 1991.

In the final weekend of our campaign we need your support! Please help us by donating and sharing with others.

Help us honor Coach Jim Montrella and his wife Bev

October 12, 2016

Thank you for your support and the contributions that you have made to our campaign so far! We are still working to meet our goal of honoring Coach Jim Montrella and his wife Bev in Ohio State Women's Swimming history by establishing a fund in their honor. This fund would provide the tools necessary for Ohio State Women's Swimming team members to pursue their academic and athletic goals. With only 20 days left in the campaign we want to ask each of you to share and contribute as each and every gift makes a difference in the lives of student-athletes.
