Defne participated in one of our pre-Covid summers. This year she reached out to share what the camp meant to her and to see if there was a way to get involved. In addition to sharing her story, Defne is now our student representative on the camp advisory board.

Ohio State's Data Science Summer Camp for All was a transformative experience, expanding on what I thought possible and encouraging me to be more ambitious in my career goals. Through the program, I talked to current Data Analytics students, learned about different careers in data analytics, and worked with other students to develop and tackle data questions. It was my very first exposure to data science and is what first excited me about the conclusions I could draw using data science techniques. The summer after the program, I started interning in a computational genomics lab, combining my interests in data science and biology, and I am now a second-year data analytics major at Ohio State.
