As many of you likely know by now, the DII team won the 1st club baseball title in program history this past week after 4 previous World Series appearances by the program. Going 4 and 0 on the week, the Buckeyes beat University of Wisconsin-La Crosse 7-6, University of New Hampshire, 8-3, Temple University, 4-2, and reigning national champions, Grand Canyon University, 3-0 in the championship game. Graduating senior, Drew Lane, was named the MVP of the World Series going 2-0 in 2 starts with 1 save and a 1.86 ERA.
The team finished the year 29-1 and undefeated versus DII teams, with the 2nd most wins in program history. We look forward to post-season awards including All-Region and All-American awards that will be announced in June and July.
We cannot thank our families, friends and alumni members enough for your support throughout this season. Thank you again and we look forward to the Fall season as we look to repeat!
As the team prepares to travel to Alton, Illinois tomorrow for game 1 of the World Series, we would like to thank all of you for the immediate donations to help fund this trip including 20 donations from alumni or alumni family members. The impact this club has on our players is clear throughout this process with an outpouring of support from so many former members.
