2023 Dean's Charity Steer Show Event Details:

  • Date: Tuesday, August 1, 2023
  • Time: 2:00 p.m.
  • Location: Voinovich Livestock & Trade Center at the Ohio Expo Center & State Fair

Celebrate Ohio agriculture, communities and children at the 2023 Dean’s Charity Steer Show. Teams will consist of a Team Captain, Team Champion, experienced 4-H youth and a steer in the show ring. The event will be hosted by Cathann A. Kress, vice president and dean of The Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES). All proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. The Steer Show is coordinated by CFAES, Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, Telhio Credit Union and the Ohio State Fair. 


Team Bios:

Mason Powell, the son of John and Heather Powell, is from Fulton, Ohio in Morrow County. He has one younger sister and will begin his senior year at Cardington Lincoln High School this fall. He is a member of FFA and the Grass Roots and Boots 4-H Club. Mason started his own beef operation when he was 9 years old, and now has a small herd of breeding cows. He has competed in beef shows all over the country and also enjoys helping his family grow and harvest hay. Mason is currently employed at Grain Equipment Co. Mason and his steer “Olson” will take on the Dean’s Charity Steer Show together.

Rich Porrello leads Huntington’s Consumer Finance organization which includes its Auto, RV, Marine, Power Sports, Mortgage Lending and Direct Consumer Lending businesses. He oversees a team of 1,600 colleagues that serve more than a million consumers/households and businesses each year. Porrello serves on the board of directors and executive committee for the American Financial Services Association. He served as the 2019-20 Chair on the Consumer Banker Association Auto Finance Committee and is on the board of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, Inc.

Christina Brown has been with Huntington National Bank for the past 13 years and is currently the regional director of community philanthropy and engagement. She specializes in strategic leadership of community partnerships, grant programs, and colleague engagement with nonprofit organizations.

Yolanda Harris co-anchors the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts at WBNS-10TV with Andrew Kinsey. Before joining the team at 10TV, Harris was the early and late evening anchor at WSYX-6 and WTTE-Fox 28. She has more than 23 years of broadcasting experience in Central Ohio. She loves to volunteer and support local charities and organizations that work to improve the lives of Central Ohioans, especially young people. She especially enjoys working with DSACO and the Columbus Buddy Walk, the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign and she has also served as an honorary board member for Buckeye Ranch.
