2023 Dean's Charity Steer Show Event Details:

  • Date: Tuesday, August 1, 2023
  • Time: 2:00 p.m.
  • Location: Voinovich Livestock & Trade Center at the Ohio Expo Center & State Fair

Celebrate Ohio agriculture, communities and children at the 2023 Dean’s Charity Steer Show. Teams will consist of a Team Captain, Team Champion, experienced 4-H youth and a steer in the show ring. The event will be hosted by Cathann A. Kress, vice president and dean of The Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES). All proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. The Steer Show is coordinated by CFAES, Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, Telhio Credit Union and the Ohio State Fair.


Team Bios:

Taylor Barton is the daughter of Emily and Robb Barton. She is 16 years old and has one younger brother from Sabina, Ohio in Clinton County. Her family operates a grain operation of corn, soybeans, wheat and hay and also raises cattle and hogs. She is currently a sophomore at East Clinton High School where she is a member of the East Clinton FFA chapter, as well as a member of the volleyball and softball teams. Taylor is a member of the Final Drive 4-H Club and has shown many different livestock species since she was 8 years old including goats, lambs, pigs and dairy and beef cattle. She will be showing her crossbred steer, better known as “Mook”, in the Dean’s Charity Steer Show.

Marshela McDaniel is currently the Field People Officer for McDonald’s Corporation in the Columbus Field Office. In her role, she co-develops and executes a vision for attracting, developing and retaining exceptional talent within her field organization where she partners with more than 1,220+ restaurants, 175+ owner-operator franchisee organizations and 90+ corporate staff. As the Field People Officer, she provides strategic direction and guidance around people initiatives and leads Owner Operators to directly impact business results, aligns with people initiatives, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to strengthen the McDonald’s system.

Dan Aloi is currently the Strategic Alignment Manager for the Columbus Field Office. In his role he partners with the field office leadership to create the strategic vision. He is also responsible for the communication, alignment and execution of the plan with the 1220+ restaurants across the field office. He also supports the National Drive thru team to drive engagement between McDonald’s leadership and the restaurants across the country. 

Melissa James is currently the PMO Manager for the McDonald’s Corporation in the Columbus Field Office. In her role, she develops, plans and deploys initiatives, with an integrated end-to-end approach while coaching and partnering to reduce complexity. She provides strategic guidance to the field office and the Owner Operator community to maximize resources and results.

Tara Vorst, born and raised in northwest Ohio, currently resides in Columbus where she is employed by McDonald’s Corporation as a Franchise Business Partner. Prior to joining McDonald’s, Tara worked for major national brands in the food and agriculture industry such as, Scotts Miracle Gro, SugarCreek Co-Packing Brandworthy Food Solutions, The Mennel Milling Company, and the Van Wert County Ohio State Extension Office.
