We are looking to fund a new composition for The Ohio State University Jazz Ensemble commemorating the 40th Anniversary of The Ohio State University Annual Jazz Festival. This new composition for Jazz Ensemble will be an extended work with a performance length of around 10 minutes. Our selected composer for this very special occasion is current Jazz Composition, Jazz Trumpet, Jazz Theory, and Jazz Arranging instructor, Professor Anthony Stanco. Completion of the new composition will be by the end of January 2017 so rehearsals may begin in preparation for a premier performance at the 40th Annual Jazz Festival on Saturday, March 25 2017 at 8pm in Weigel Auditorium. Our performance at the Jazz Festival will be free and open to the public as well as lived streamed via The Ohio State University YouTube Channel.
We offer this special composition and performance to honor the long tradition of Jazz Studies at The Ohio State University now and for years to come. Our hope is to recognize and pay tribute to the many gifted musicians that have come before as well as the many currently working around Ohio, nationally, and internationally in various fields of music business, performance, composition, recording, and education.
