Hello Everyone,
Let me share the latest news on the Sandra Y. Alexander Memorial Fund. A generous donor and Ohio State University alum has donated to the fund for the OSU 2018/2019. Therefore, another young African American male will get support to continue his education at the University.
Lastly, Juwan Copeland, recipient of the first Sandra Y. Alexander Memorial Fund will graduate in May. He'll graduate with a bachelor in Biochemical Engineering and is pursuing research opportunities to combat sickle cell disease. His long-term goal is the complete his PhD.
All,
Juwan Copeland is the recipient of the Sandra Y. Alexander scholarship. Juwan was born and raised in Dayton, OH. His major is Biochemistry. His goal is to continue his studies and complete his Phd. He will focus on research and work to find a cure for sickle cell anemia. When Juwan is not in class or labs, he is a dancer and wushu marital artist. I am so proud and impressed with Juwan. It let's me know that Sandra's work to support African American young men is reaching a new generation.
All,
Here's an overview of the winner for the Sandra Y. Alexander Scholarship Award:
His name is Juwan Copeland. He is a biochemistry major at Ohio State…a graduate of Northmont High School in Clayton, OH (a suburb of Dayton)….he is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.; was crowned as the 34th African-American Homecoming King at OSU…and is a dancer (part of a dance duo and has taught a hip-hop dance class at the Ohio Union). So he has the arts and sciences background.
More information will be provided at a later date.
Thank you for your support of the Sandra Alexander Scholarship Foundation. Your donation will provide financial aid to a student struggling to stay in school. Although the campaign has ended, if you know anyone who was unable to participate, please share this link.
