Our Crowdfunding Groups
Hello! We are the Ohio State University at Lima Chorale. Last spring, we were invited to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall alongside the New England Symphony Orchestra and several other talented choral groups. We have been tirelessly fundraising since last spring in order to cover the cost per student of $1,400.00 - a grand total of $56,000.00 not including transportation. This is a great opportunity for all of our members to experience singing in arguably the most historic and beautiful venue in the United States. This is also a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of our members to visit New York City. For the first time, they will be experiencing the culture and enriching atmosphere that only NYC delivers.
Our chorale will leave Lima, OH on May 24th and travel by bus to NYC. For the next few days, they will rehearse at Carnegie Hall with the prestigious New England Conservatory's Symphonic Ensemble. The concert will take place on May 29th at 8pm in the Stern Auditorium and Perelman Stage. The piece to be performed is Ola Gjeilo's Sunrise Mass which was premiered in 2008 in Oslo and commissioned for Majorstua and Nova chamber choirs. One of our leaders in choir, Becca Schlumbohm ('18) said, "I find myself listening to the Sunrise Mass on a regular basis because it's so stunning. I've always loved the combination of strings and voices. The ability to sing a piece like this was amazing and every time I listen to it I am reminded of our performance of it last year and all of the hard work we put into it. The knowledge that I get to sing it again in a venue like Carnegie Hall and with such talented musicians is astounding."
The choirs at Ohio State Lima are not only an outlet for its members to express their creativity and passion for music, but also a foundation upon which many long-lasting friendships have and will be formed. Through music, we have found friends to comfort us in our times of need and celebrate in our successes. We have created a family not by blood, but by choice. Together, we have truly learned the meaning of the phrase, "How Firm Thy Friendship". By donating to our cause, you will help us fuel our bus and our ambitions.
