Hi Folks,
Another student video here. Enjoy listening to Sydney Hartford and Adam Wheelbarger talk about this exciting opportunity!
Our Assistant Dean was kind enough to share his opinions regarding the magnitude of this experience for the students on the Lima campus. Take a look!
Hear what Tori Bradford ('20 psychology major) has to say about what this experience means to her. We'll share more videos in the coming days and weeks.
Enjoy!
Dear friends of Ohio State Lima Chorale:
We’ve started our online crowdfunding campaign. We are raising funds so that a group of 40 extremely talented students can sing at Carnegie Hall this coming May. I thought it might be helpful to hear from some of these students – so that you hear what this experience means to them. These 3 students have never been to New York and have been in the choir program the longest.
Reggie Phipps (’18) says “Chorale has given me a family away from home. I grew up in Puerto Rico, moved a lot with my family before finally settling in Lima. The other choir members have given me support, friendship, and memories to last a lifetime. I cannot wait to experience New York for the very first time with my extended family.”
Brianna Henderson (’18): “Chorale has created lifelong friendships and have been part of the group for many years and have had opportunities that I may never have had were it not for this group. I traveled to Chicago, Nashville, and now New York. Singing in Carnegie Hall is beyond what I ever thought possible: I thought it only possible to see a show there - not BE the show.”
Seth Mitchell (’18): “Music is my life. It is something that has always been extremely fulfilling. The fact that I have never been to New York and that I have a chance to go and sing at Carnegie Hall means the world to me. One day, I hope to perform there professionally. Not everyone can say that they have performed at Carnegie Hall before they tuned 25 – we will all be able to say that. It’s amazing.”
We look forward to sharing more updates and student stories as the month progresses. Please stay tuned – I will share videos of the students performing on our next update.
Please consider donating to our campaign – this really is an unbelievable opportunity for the students at Ohio State Lima.
All best,
Margaret Young Matthew Young

Very soft and quiet, yet creates interest in all music. You may find yourself leaning forward in your seat to hear it, but it is often the most meaningful.
Quiet voice, softer than speaking, much like the kind words shared among friends.
The glue that holds together the quiet and majestic elements of any piece creating a fluid work of art.
Reminds us often of the vivacious laughter among friends; warm, comforting and inviting.
The moment that overwhelms the senses with its grandeur and beauty.
