The Ohio State University Clarinet Studio prides itself on artistic integrity and stewardship to clarinet technique. This semester’s iteration consists of twenty-five students from several states and countries, ranging from undergraduates to doctoral candidates. The studio itself is led by Professor Caroline Hartig, a world-renowned soloist and recording artist. Dr. Hartig is also the current president of the International Clarinet Association (ICA). Musicians under her tutelage hold positions at institutions, orchestras, and military ensembles all around the world. Furthermore, studio members have been finalists in several ICA Competitions, as well as the Ohio State Concerto Competition at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The Ohio State University allows both clarinet performance majors and music education majors to attain the highest level of musicianship, with alumni pursuing graduate studies at prestigious institutions across the nation in addition to pursuing successful professional careers in a variety of musical settings.
Help support the Ohio State University Clarinet Ensemble travel to perform at the International Clarinet Association Convention (ClarinetFest® 2017) in Orlando, Florida on July 26-30, 2017. The OSU Clarinet Ensemble will perform on Friday, July 28 in the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel Ballroom, at 10:00 AM. We are seeking travel funds for large instruments and 22 clarinetists (OSU undergraduates and graduates) to attend this five-day international convention; it will cost $10,340.

This convention features networking events, master classes, research lectures, and concerts by internationally acclaimed artists. One of Mozart's favorite instruments, the basset horn is a unique gem in the clarinet family! It is rarely heard in any ensemble today. Help us bring our basset horn and its player, Michael Bednarsky, to perform in Orlando!
It plays an octave lower than the soprano B-flat clarinet. The Italians called the instrument glicibarifono (pronounce: gleetchee bariphono, meaning "sweet-deep-sounder")
The lowest instrument of the clarinet choir! It is often used in film music for a "surreal" kind of sound. Our "Beast Paperclip" is known to be the best friend of its player, Bailey Clanin!
