Greetings,
I hope this message finds you well.
My name is Brian Allen and I am this year's Fundraising Chair for the Higher Education Student Personnel Association (HESPA), the professional student organization for all HESA students. I wanted send a quick thank you to each and every one of you for your contributions to last year's HESPA fundraising campaign. The funds that you helped raised benefitted students in so many ways, both professionally and personally. So, thank you!!
So what has HESPA been up to this year? Short answer, a ton! Most notably, we have identified a few opportunities to volunteer at the Schottenstein Center. This has given us the opportunity to interact with the Ohio State community and also reach across classes within the program. We have had the first-ever coordinated Ph.D and Ed.D social mixer and plan to have another this semester! In January we hosted the "Professional Development Month" where students who are participating received "passports" that allow them to engage in resume building workshops, network opportunities with Ohio State staff, and mock interviews in various functional areas. All of this and more to come as graduation approaches in May!
We are excited to continue to professionally develop as the semester moves forward. Part of professional development includes attending conferences and conducting research. In order to do that our students need resources available to them. That is why we are asking you again today to consider giving back to HESPA one more time! With only ONE MORE DAY left of the 2nd Annual HESPA Leadership Fundraising Campaign we are hoping for your support to close the gap!! 100% of funds raised go directly to students seeking to professionally develop in myriad of ways. Click on this URL https://buckeyefunder.osu.edu/project/13928 to donate now! Your gift means the world to all of us HESA students and we thank you for considering us!
Don't forget to watch our new campaign video with bloopers at the end!
From the bottom of my heart and all from all of the HESA students ... THANK YOU!!!
Sincerely,
Brian Allen, M.A. (almost)

First, I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to those who have graciously given back to HESPA. Your investment in our leadership and professional development is paramount to the future success of our program and the students we work with on a daily basis. Your support has been paramount as we continue to engage in opportunities that will build our skills as future professionals.
Although our giving page is no longer active, you can still donate. If you would like to provide any additional support to our project, please do so here.
We would not be able to continue accomplishing what we are today without your generous gifts. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for investing in the future of Ohio State's Higher Education and Student Affairs program as well as the Student Personnel Assistantship Program.
Sincerely,
Sara Laughlin - HESPA Fundraising Chair
Hi Friends,
We are exactly six hours away from the end of our campaign and merely $900 away from reaching our goal! Our students have been working hard preparing their proposals for conferences, making travel arrangements, and getting ready for the job hunt, and we would love to help them fund these opportunities!
Thank you to all of those that have supported us so far, and for those of you who are looking for a special place to give back, this fund will allow our program to continue to provide the best services for Ohio State's college students.
Thank you for all that you do and Go Bucks!
Hello Friends!
We are climbing towards our final goal and are currently 26% of the way there. This is amazing! We are so thankful for our generous donors who recognize the merit of our hard work in the field and have already donated to our cause.
In the upcoming months, we have many students presenting and attending the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), The Placement Exchange (TPE), and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). These conferences allow our students to showcase their scholarly work, network and job hunt, and learn from college practitioners across the country.
Our students continue to educate and engage with one another within these spaces, bringing the best practices back to campus as we continue to advise and mentor the next generation of college students.
Your donations will continue to help our students thrive both personally and professionally and we greatly appreciate your continued support! Please spread the word about our #HESADaysofGiving this week as we aim to hit $1,500 by Sunday.
Thank you and GO BUCKS!

We are 16% of the way to our goal... a huge thank you to those supporters who have chosen to invest in our program's professional development!
Did you know, according to research, students are more likely to reach degree completion and persist through college when they are active in the academic and social life of the institution? As Student Affairs professionals, we strive to advise and mentor all students through the college experience while facilitating an environment where they realize their potential as leaders in the community and identify their individual passions and interests. Our work allows us to provide effective student support outside of the classroom to ensure students are able to thrive in their coursework, engage within their communities, and create lasting friendships with their peers.
Our HESA & SPA graduate students work diligently every day to ensure students feel a sense of connection to the Buckeye community and their peers on our campus. Your support is greatly appreciated as we continue to better ourselves, our practice, and the lives of the students we interact with.
Once again, thank you for your generosity, and Go Bucks!

Welcome to the Higher Education Leadership Development Campaign!
My name is Tim Bryson and I currently serve as the President of the Higher Education and Student Personnel Association (HESPA), a subset of the Student Personnel Assistantship Program at Ohio State.
As a student organization, we represent the 101 students who are enrolled in our Master’s, PhD, and EdD programs. We are committed to building an inclusive network within our programs and among our colleagues through educational and social programming, professional development, and civic engagement.
Throughout academic year, our students are engaged in groundbreaking educational research, presenting at some of the nation’s most prominent higher education conferences, and serve as leaders on national and regional committees. Our program has done a great job serving as mentors and supporting us through research and travel grants; however, the need for financial support has surpassed the demand and we need your help.
As alumni, friends, and constituents of The Ohio State University, we are asking for your financial support. The money raised through this campaign will directly fund our student’s professional development and continuing education. Our current goal of $2500 will allot $1,000 in master’s and doctoral research grants, $1,000 in conference travel funds, and $500 in educational programming. We believe these opportunities are essential to the graduate school experience and will continue to support a strong legacy of Higher Education and Student Affairs at The Ohio State University.
This is also a special month, because October is home to Careers in Student Affairs month! As we celebrate student affairs and encourage our profession to grow, please consider giving today. The Student Personnel Assistantship program is celebrating our 70th anniversary this year, and we are only getting better.
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” – Barack Obama
We hope that you will join us being the change we wish to see in Higher Education and Student Affairs! Together, we will go far.
Thank you, and Go Bucks!
Tim Bryson
