Row to ACRA
The Ohio State Crew team is a student-run organization, not sponsored by university athletics. We proudly pay for our own equipment, coaching, travel, and lodging – a budget that annually exceeds $130,000. Itʼs no small task, but then again, we aren’t your average Buckeyes. Please help us maintain our unique tradition with a donation today!
Our goal of $10,000 will be used to help fund our trip to the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) national championship regatta. Last year, the team brought home our first national medal since 2012 and we hope to continue that success this year. The regatta takes place on May 26-27th in Gainesville, GA on the 1996 Olympic rowing course. The team will be racing against 60+ other universities with the desire of being the first boat across the finish line.
The student athletes on this team work hard for the opportunity to participate in this sport. Members must individually contribute or fundraise $2500 in membership dues per year in order to participate. In addition to keeping up with their studies, athletes have mandatory practice 6 days a week, and most hold jobs or participate in other extracurricular activities. Most weekends that we are not racing, we are busy keeping up our Rent-A-Rower program, where we do yard work for Columbus neighbors as a fundraiser for our team.
A trip to ACRA for 50 student athletes plus coaching staff will have the following expenses:
2 nights in Hotel: $3000
Rental of Passenger Vans: $5000
Gas for vans and trailer: $1000
Regatta Entry/Affiliate Fees: $1500
Your contribution to Ohio State Crew will support the team in their quest for a national championship and help alleviate the financial pressure on the student-athletes.
