ACRA Recap

January 20, 2019

We apologize for the delayed update, but here is a recap:

Ohio State Crew ended the 2017-2018 season with the ACRA national championship regatta in Gainsville, GA. Although tropical storm Alberto threatened to disrupt the regatta, racing persisted with a few weather related schedule changes. The team fielded both a men’s and women’s varsity 8+ for the first time since 2011. In addition the team also raced a men’s novice 8+, a men’s varsity 4+, and a men’s 1x. Strong racing was seen from all crews. Dillian Thomson sprinted into the A finals of the men’s 1x event, finishing 8th in the nation. Both the women’s varsity 8+ and men’s novice 8+ advanced to the petite finals. Kristina Hallof and Mark Fisher were named to the ACRA Great Lakes All-Region team for the third consecutive year and 8 team members were honored as ACRA Academic All-Americans. The weekend was a great end to the season for the senior class of 2018 and departing head coach Mark Williams. Photos can be found on row2k and full results are available here

Furthermore, the team hired a new head coach, Andy Wimmer, in the off-season and shows great promise for the coming Spring racing season after ending the fall with a top 4 finish at Head of the Hooch and an improved finish in the Wolverbuck duel against Michigan.  As such, we will be raising funds to help fund our trip to ACRA once again, so we can once again find success there.

Thank you for your support and your contributions to our team's success.

March 26, 2018

THANK YOU for all of the support we have already received on this campaign! With your help, we have raised $3208 so far. This will cover the 2 night stay in a motel for the athletes at the ACRA national championship. With 5 days remaining in the campaign, we are hoping to bring our total up to $4500. In addition to the motel, this amount would also cover the regatta affiliate and racing entry fees. Please continue to spread the word in order to help Ohio State Crew 'Row to ACRA'!

March 23, 2018

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! We have raised $2,624 and it is building every day. Please continue to help spreading the word of our campaign; every dollar directly helps one of the student-athletes of the team in their mission to compete at ACRA at the end of the spring season. We just got back from our yearly spring training camp where we train 3 times a day on the water. It was one of our most productive training camps in the last few years and has given the team a huge jumpstart on the coming race season. There are only 8 more days left in the crowdfunding campaign, so please share with your family, friends, and social media!

March 15, 2018

We are off to a great start with the 'Row to ACRA' crowdfunding campaign with over $1300 already funded! Thank you so much to those who have contributed and spread the word about the campaign. It is great to see so many people invested in the success of the program!

The team is currently in the middle of Spring Break Training Camp where they are getting a jump start on the rest of the ACRA competition. These first strokes on the water this season are essential to the team's success at the national championship regatta in May. Even though spring training has just begun, things are looking promising for a successful racing season for the Buckeyes!

Please continue to spread the word about this crowdfunding campaign. We are hoping to raise enough funds to cover the cost of the trip to the national championship so that we can lessen the financial burden on the student athletes.

Thank you so much for your support. Go Bucks!
