For ten years, LiFEsports has been using sport to empower over 6,000 young people in our community. As we embark on our 10th anniversary of summer camp, your support is critical to ensuring that this Buckeye tradition continues to have a positive impact on vulnerable youth in our community.
The LiFEsports Initiative recognizes that youth sports are about much more than playing ball – it’s about giving young people skills they can use both on and off the field. That’s why LiFEsports uses athletics to teach youth valuable life skills.
Each summer, the LiFEsports Initiative provides a free, four-week summer camp to over 600 young people. Our buses pick up youth from over 15 bus stops across the city. Youth have access to daily programming that focuses on four critical social skills: Self-control, Effort, Teamwork and Social Responsibility, or S.E.T.S. These skills are taught not only in the classroom through Chalk Talk, a play-based social skills curriculum, but also on the playing field.
Previous donor support has given each child who attends LiFEsports:
- 45 hours of sports skills instruction
- 15 hours of play-based social skills instruction focused on S.E.T.S.
- free transportation to and from camp,
- 2 free meals each day,
- an opportunity for a free dental and physical health exam, and
- memories to last a lifetime!
Your gift today will help LiFEsports continue to impact our community one child at a time.
All donors who are able to give one day of camp for one child ($50 or more) will receive a commemorative OSU LiFEsports 10-year anniversary pin as our thank you for helping us continue this Buckeye tradition.
