No College Student Should Go Hungry
Although our giving page is no longer active, you can still donate. If you would like to provide any additional support, please make a gift here.
Food insecurity is a problem for students in colleges all across the United States, and a survey showed that our Ohio State Marion campus is no different.
In fact, based on the survey's results, 26.7% of students on our campus have struggled at some point with knowing how they were going to afford their next meal.
In response to this need, a team of faculty and staff along with the student organization, the Buckeye Food Alliance, opened two food pantries and provided three “Friendly Fridges” (commercial refrigerators) on the Marion campus. These resources mean that students have access to free, healthy, fresh foods and basic staples on a regular basis.
However, with rising food prices and lower supplies available, providing regular resources has become more difficult and expensive. This is why every dollar you donate will ensure that we can keep the refrigerator and pantry shelves stocked with healthy food options.
Our goal with this campaign is to help students succeed in college, and we know that one major component to a student's success is general wellness. If students no longer have to worry about their access to healthy, nutritious food, it is our hope, then, that this will remove a barrier to success in school.
Please give today! Your monetary donation will directly impact a student's life by removing the burden of hunger and providing free, healthy and reliable food resources on the Marion campus. Fuel students’ bodies to help college feed their minds.
*Sixteen students in English 3304 Business and Professional Writing are running this campaign as part of their coursework. They are putting their professional writing and marketing skills to use in order to help the campus community.
