THANK YOU!

March 03, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting the Marion Campus Healthy Resources crowdfunding campaign! We are thrilled that we exceeded the goal set by 23%.

Your generous donation will ensure that students have access to free, nutritious food on campus whenever they need it.  Removing this stressor from students’ daily lives can help them be more successful learners in the classroom.

You have also supported 16 students’ hands-on learning experience in English 3304 who have been using their professional writing and communication skills to run this campaign.  Working in teams, they have helped inform you through updates, educate you through interviews, and market the campaign through emails and social media. I would like to applaud their focus, dedication, and hard work this semester!

We, at OSU Marion, are proud of our culture of caring on our campus, and this is just one of the many ways we can provide care for our students and local community.

Thank you again for your for donating to this campaign!

P.S. - The photo shows most of the students in the course (and me) on they day that they won pizzas from Donatos (regional manager on right) for their campus Act of Kindness Project.

It's the final day of our campaign, so we’d like you to hear from Leslie Beary

March 02, 2023

We would like to share an interview our classmates recently had with a notable member of the Marion community. Please accept our warmest welcome as Leslie Beary, our campus manager for mental health and wellness services and director of the Marion Campus Buckeye Food Alliance, discusses how closely entwined the BFA is with the Marion Community

We're still going strong!

February 28, 2023

We have reached our goal and exceeded it by $355, but there's still time to give! Thank you to all who have given already. The Marion Food Pantries and Friendly Fridges are an essential part of this campus and community, and their effort to provide healthy, fresh food to those who need it has made an enormous difference in students’ lives. To share how the pantries and fridges have affected non-faculty staff, we interviewed OSUM student and student center worker, Karlie Marlatt.

Do you know what the Friendly Fridges and food pantries are? Have you seen food insecurity on the Marion campus?

“Yes and yes. I’ve noticed people using the pantries, students talking about being hungry, and talking about how expensive food prices currently are.”

Have you noticed the Marion Food Pantries' impact on campus?

“Yes! It makes students more confident about food, helps them make friends, and gain confidence in their everyday life.”

Do the food pantries and Friendly Fridges inspire you to keep working at Marion OSU?

“Absolutely! It creates a well-rounded and kind environment.”

An Interesting Fact about the Food Pantries and Friendly Fridges on Marion:

  • Over the year of 2022, there was an average of 120 students and families per month that were able to utilize the Food Pantries and Friendly Fridges.

Below are a few words from an interview with Jackson Crawford, the Student President of the Buckeye Food Alliance.

How do you see Friendly Fridges and Food Pantries expanding in the future?

"In the future, we definitely would like to get a Friendly Fridge on the other side of campus like the Science and Engineering area. A lot of these students reach over to Morrill as much as we would like them to to utilize our resources. So we would like more small pop-up locations around campus.”

What will the funding you receive from this crowdfunding campaign provide for the Food Pantries and Friendly Fridges?

“It will provide more food and more options to give in our Friendly Fridges and Food Pantries, as well as keeping the Friendly Fridge filled more often.”

What does the position of Student President of the Buckeye Food Alliance mean to you?

“It means leadership and serving other students. I get to work with students all over the campus that I don’t usually get to work with. So there’s a lot of leadership and students helping students which is one of our big driving points.”
