"When I toured Ohio State after being accepted into the program, I immediately knew that it was the school for me. The curriculum is very hands-on, the faculty are excited to teach us, and there is a strong sense of community. I've had the opportunity to do so many incredible things since starting a little over three years ago, including pregnancy checks on alpacas, volunteering at low-income vaccine clinics, and helping rehabilitate wild birds!
I feel honored to have been selected for a scholarship with such an extraordinary mission. Since receiving this scholarship, I have traveled to two clinics that offer programs to help families during financial hardships. During my time there, I learned about how we can strategize financially while still providing quality medical care to pets. I gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of the human-animal bond and how it moves people to show up for something outside of themselves.
By receiving this scholarship, I was able to travel out of town to more off-sites and work with different veterinary teams. I’m now exploring non-profit and shelter medicine as potential career paths!
Thank you for such a wonderful opportunity! You have taken the weight off my shoulders as I complete my DVM program and have given me the flexibility to explore the human-animal bond in a new way. I’m forever grateful for your generosity."
